Retired Firefighter, Wife Found Dead At Upstate NY Home: Report
UPDATE: Authorities have released details and a possible motive in the deaths of retired Hudson Valley fire chief James "Jimmy" Brugger and his wife, Melinda "Mindy" Brugger.
James "Jimmy" Brugger, 66, and his wife, Melinda "Mindy" Brugger, 54, were found dead in the Milton Turnpike home in Plattekill, Lt. Collin Reynolds said.
"The investigation is active at this time, however we don’t have any reason to believe there is any danger to the public," Reynolds said.

The sudden death of a New Jersey mother has friends rallying around her children.
Cherilyn A. Molina, 49, died at her Hardyston Township home on Tuesday, Aug. 18, according to her obituary on the Ferguson Funeral Home website.
Molina was raised in Teaneck and later moved to Ogdensburg, where she raised her children, Jayda and Damian, her obituary says. She worked for Movora in Whippany and enjoyed shopping, going to the beach, cooking, and traveling.

15-Year-Old Girl Sexually Abused At LI Hospital By Nurse’s Aide: Police
A Long Island hospital employee sexually abused a 15-year-old girl while she was being treated, authorities said.
Trever Lauriano, 36, of Wyandanch, used his position as a nurse’s aide at Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip to abuse the teenager, the Suffolk County Police Department said Friday, Aug. 21. He has since been fired, according to the hospital.
Another hospital employee called 911 to report sexual abuse by Lauriano that occurred on Monday, Aug. 3, police said. The girl was a patient at the hospital’s behavioral health unit, authorities said.

The mother of a 28-year-old man killed in a Memorial Day boating crash on Long Beach Island has been charged with vehicular homicide in connection with her son's death.
Jennifer Pearson, a 59-year-old Barnegat resident, surrendered to state police on Wednesday, Aug. 19, and was charged with death by vessel, operating a vessel under the influence, reckless operation, operating without a Boating Safety Certificate, and failure to have a proper lookout, Christopher Postorino, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said.
